Amy’s growing up fast on the wrong side of the tracks
in spite of the odds she’s gonna be somebody
she worked real hard until she wore herself out
now she’s lying in the hospital all alone
when she hears the whispering deep within her heart
let go, let Me
I’m giving up my life today and letting You lead God
I don’t know how and I don’t know where
I just know I can’t make it on my own
so Jesus I’m letting go and letting You have control
Sarah turned twenty-one as she stood at his grave
he wasn’t much older than her the day he volunteered to go
she held one baby in her arms with another due any day
she shut her eyes holding back her tears
when she hears the whispering deep within her heart
let go, let Me
I’m giving up my life today and letting You lead God
I don’t know how and I don’t know where
I just know I can’t make it on my own
so Jesus I’m letting go and letting You have control
Jason’s been chasing his dreams for twenty years
He’s been on the top but now he’s not
with a divorce behind him, no children of his own, he’s working two jobs
wondering where he went wrong
when he hears the whispering deep within his heart
let go, let Me
I’m giving up my life today and letting You lead God
I don’t know how and I don’t know where
I just know I can’t make it on my own
so Jesus I’m letting go and letting You have control
This is one of many poems featured in my book, Transcendence, which is available in ebook, print, and audio.
